New Vision Foundation

Message from the CEO

Tell me, what is it you plan to do
with your one wild and precious life?

This question asked by poet Mary Oliver underlines everything we do at New Visions Foundation. We believe every child and young person’s life is precious and deserves wild and passionate attention by our country. Unfortunately, not every child and youth in America receives our country’s potential blessings and a huge disparity of opportunity persists between the fortunate and the at-risk, poor and underserved.

PaulThe mission of New Visions Foundation is to address inequity and to bring to as many young people as we can the blessings and quality of education enjoyed by the privileged and advantaged. Consequently, we have created or helped create four new schools: New Roads School, Camino Nuevo Charter School, Los Angeles Academy of Arts and Enterprise, and New Village Charter High School. We have also designed and implemented innovative and, we believe, model programs for foster youth, incarcerated youth, pregnant and parenting teens, and overall highly at-risk youth.

Our team of educators see problems and crises as opportunities to turn things around. Most societal and educational problems were created by people, consequently, they can be resolved by people –and that possibility is what fires our imaginations and our daily work-a-day efforts. As the poet Robert Frost wrote:

Earth’s the right place for love:
I don’t know when it’s likely to go better.
