Herb Alpert Educational Village

T

he Herb Alpert Educational Village represents a vision of education in the 21st century, housing in one collaborative community - New Visions; the students, faculty, and staff of New Roads School; and other community non-profit organizations dedicated to the causes of educational advancement and social justice.

The idea of bringing like-minded but varied non-profits together under one roof to advance the cause of education has been a dream of Paul Cummins for more than 10 years. That dream is now materializing with construction of Phase 1 of the Herb Alpert Educational Village. The Phase I building, the Performing Arts and Leadership Center, will include:  a) the 350-seat Ann and Jerry Moss theatre; b) 8-10 offices for New Visions; c) 10-12 offices for non-profit partners; c) classroom space for New Roads School, and d) a Leadership Center providing nearly 2,000 square feet of meeting space for collaborative endeavors of the non-profit participants and for programs of New Roads School.

Phase I construction is scheduled to be completed in the early fall of 2012, with move-in expected by November 2012.

Phase II and III construction will provide new and enhanced facilities for New Roads School, including:  classrooms, a gymnasium, a library, and parking.
